Back pain, what to do with it.

Robert Singleton
Back pain is suffered my many millions of people who find no long term relief from this complaint; some medications can provide back pain relief in the short term, although none currently exist that remove pain completely. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain. As far as the sufferer is concerned, this medication should only be taken whilst under supervision by a medical expert.
The problem with the back is although it is strong, at the same time it is easily damaged; large numbers of people have caused permanent damage to their backs just by sitting poorly for long periods. Most spinal problems are a result of lifting heavy weights but they can also be caused by lifting even light weights incorrectly, the pain is usually experienced in the lower back. However, a number of back pain relief treatments can be used without the need for drugs.
Stretching the back is often the simplest method of relief, stretching your back gently can relax your back muscles preventing them from becoming tense. Reflexology, an ancient type of alternative medical treatment, uses the concept that areas of the body have corresponding regions on the feet that can benefit from massage; some people are now discovering its benefits as a back pain remedy. Reflexology can also help to improve the bodys blood circulation and relax muscles.
Acupuncture on the other hand has been used in China since before the birth of Christ and has had considerable success in helping sufferers. It is providing back pain relief even though this is something that has only recently being used in the Western world. The Chinese believe we all have this special energy force flowing through us and when we become sick it doesnt flow correctly. Acupuncture needles help to release trapped or sick energy (chi) when inserted at particular points in the body. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief; especially those who have what is termed a chronic condition.
Another ancient oriental discipline, Tai Chi is similar to many types of Yoga but the movements are much slower and deliberate. This method uses breathing control as the main source of relief with some stretching involved. It is so easy to learn by the young and old alike. To finish, it is a good idea not to forget the huge benefits that exercise can bring in providing back pain relief; by exercising regularly there is less chance of a back pain attack.
